Manuel Neuer missed FC Bayern’s DFB Cup final due to a calf injury, but the goalkeeper has still been nominated for the German national team and is expected to play the World Cup as number one. He is now undergoing strictly supervised recovery training to ensure that this succeeds
The record champions‘ goalkeeper will not be available for Sunday’s test match against Finland. Julian Nagelsmann, the national team coach, spoke about the current plan with Neuer on Wednesday and announced that theynow want to introduce him slowly
The second match in the preparations against the USA could then be the dress rehearsal, but he should be available for the World Cup opener against the team from Curacao at the latest
After the national team players arrived in Herzogenaurach yesterday and learned about the plan for the days there, it was time to get down to business today. Training was on the agenda

There is currently no cause for concern, as Neuer is reportedly on schedule. Jonas Urbig, who is with the team as training goalkeeper, will take over Neuer’s role in the match practice sessions. Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel, who are also travelling to the tournament, are also involved in training as normal
In any case, the DFB squad is as good as complete. Only Kai Havertz, who is still playing in the Champions League final with Arsenal FC, is currently missing. He will travel to Budapest soon after the match to help prepare for the tournament as planned.
