Ajax’s Devyne Rensch (22) edges closer to completing his move to AS Roma as the clubs have reached an “agreement in principle” for a fee of around five million euros, which could increase to six million via bonuses.
Last week VI announced that Roma had moved for Rensch again after coming so near to a summer deal. Following that close call with the Giallorossi, Rensch then decided to let his Ajax contract run down.
With this in mind, Roma came back to Amsterdam this month to present Ajax with a difficult choice. For coach Francesco Farioli, it was either let Rensch walk out the door for free next summer, or settle on a price with the Serie A side.
Rensch reportedly wanted to generate a transfer fee for the club he has been at since 13. Because the negotiations were already well advanced, he started on the bench against SC Heerenveen on Sunday.
Ajax and Roma have now reached an agreement in principle, on a transfer fee of (as said) around five million euros, which could increase to six million via bonuses. The clubs are still discussing the payment terms. Ajax would prefer to let Rensch go only when his replacement has already arrived.
