Ajax looking for revenge against AZ following 6-0 thrashing | OneFootball

Ajax face AZ this weekend for the first time since they were humiliated in the KNVB Cup. The last time the sides met, AZ put six goals past a poor Ajax defence to humiliate the Amsterdam side and knock them out of the cup. Ahead of the reunion between the sides, Fred Grim has called for his side to look for revenge. As reported by VI, Grim said during the press conference ahead of the game ‘If it’s 6-0 in Alkmaar, it seems logical to me that something is stirring within the club and the squad. And that you have a desire for revenge’.

Ajax have somewhat turned things around since Grim has taken over. They are on a decent run of form and are fourth in the Eredivisie, level on points with NEC Nijmegen in third and just a point behind Feyenoord in second. Grim has been given the Ajax job until the end of the season, and so far has won eight games, with three draws and five defeats.

Ajax have not beaten AZ since back in March of 2022, when they won 2-0 in the KNVB Cup.
