Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s proposed loan move from FC Barcelona to AFC Ajax has entered an unexpected period of uncertainty, with the deal still awaiting final approval despite all parties having previously reached an agreement.
As such, the Dutch giants are starting to grow impatient, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Although Barcelona, Ajax, and the German goalkeeper agreed in principle on the structure of the loan and the distribution of his salary, unresolved tax-related matters continue to delay the transfer.
The move was initially expected to be completed within days, but the final authorisation has yet to arrive.
Barcelona maintain that the remaining obstacles are not within the club’s control and insist the outstanding issues now rest with the player, who must resolve the remaining financial and tax details before the transfer can be finalised.

Despite the delay, the Catalan giants remain confident that the move will eventually be completed.
In Amsterdam, however, frustration is beginning to grow. Ajax officials do not fully understand why the process has taken so long.
While they have not established a formal deadline to abandon the deal, they acknowledge that their patience is not unlimited.
The Dutch giants are now preparing for every possible outcome, including both the successful completion of the loan and the possibility that negotiations could ultimately collapse.
Ajax manager Michel had not expected Ter Stegen to be available for the club’s UEFA Europa Conference League fixture on July 23, even before the latest delays.

Given the lack of preparation time and the goalkeeper’s ongoing recovery process, the Spanish coach had already ruled out the possibility of integrating him immediately into the squad.
But the continued delays are starting to make Ajax grow impatient.
Ter Stegen himself has not publicly addressed the situation.
The explanation continues to centre on unresolved tax matters, while the goalkeeper has maintained his normal routine by training with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Until the remaining paperwork is completed, his future remains temporarily on hold, with both clubs waiting for the final green light.
