Nottingham Forest may have found a way out of Oleksandr Zinchenko’s stalled loan, with Ajax moving for the Arsenal full-back. De Telegraaf reports Ajax are finalising a deal, with agreement with Arsenal to take him on loan for the rest of the season and only minor details to settle.
Forest have explored cutting short his City Ground stay after a difficult spell. The lack of a break clause and no room for him in Arsenal’s squad have complicated matters.
Ajax are said to want a permanent signing in the summer, when the 29-year-old is due to be a free agent. Zinchenko is said to be open to a move to the Netherlands, and talks have taken place with his agent, Jorge Mendes.
Signed on deadline day in the summer, he has made 10 appearances for Forest, with only five in the Premier League. Ola Aina’s recent return from injury pushed him further down the full-back pecking order.
Before facing Arsenal on Saturday, head coach Sean Dyche said he had spoken to Zinchenko and that the club had made things clear. He added they would see what happens.
Forest drew 0-0 with Arsenal, with Zinchenko ineligible. The result could prove important in the survival fight, leaving Dyche’s side five points above the bottom three.
