Al-Ahli have entered the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya, the fastest player in Bundesliga history. Their rivals Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad previously failed in attempts to recruit him.
According to Goal.com, the Saudi club are among the suitors this summer, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs also keen, which could prompt a swift approach.
Saudi interest dates back to last summer when Al-Ittihad tried to sign the 21-year-old, then Al-Hilal made an attempt in the winter window. His age means he would not take up one of the eight foreign player slots.
Bahoya joined Frankfurt from Angers in January 2024, scoring his first goal for the club with his fourth shot on target.
His standout moment came in March 2025 against Bochum in the 26th round, when a 12th minute sprint set a league record of 37.16 kilometres per hour. He became the first Bundesliga player to break 37 kilometres per hour, close to Usain Bolt’s 37.58 kilometres per hour in the 100 metres in 2009.
Last season he impressed for Frankfurt, playing 37 matches, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists.
