According to L'Équipe, Al-Ahli are attempting to sign Amadou Koné from Neom on Sunday, the final day of the Saudi window. That move could see Neom turn to Metz’s Alpha Touré. The potential chain reaction could directly affect Ligue 1.
Pape Cabral’s proposed switch from Monaco to Al-Ahli collapsed after the sacking of sporting director Rui Pedro Braz. The Jeddah club are still seeking a midfielder aged 21 or under.
Oussama Hawsawi, Rui Pedro Braz’s successor and a former Châteauroux figure from 2021 to 2023 under Saudi stewardship, is said to have made Amadou Koné a priority. The former Reims midfielder is 21 and under contract until 2029, and a deal for the Neom player would be around €20m. The Public Investment Fund, which approves transfers, is said to be handling the case.
If approved, attention would also turn to Koné’s replacement at Neom. The preferred option is Alpha Touré, under contract with Metz until 2028. The 20-year-old Senegalese has been given the green light to leave and Metz need the proceeds, so a switch to Neom could suit all parties.
Touré has 30 Ligue 1 appearances. He has also been targeted in recent weeks by Al-Diraiyah and by Al-Ahli.
