Al Ain duo headline AFC Champions League Elite matchday one team | OneFootball

The Asian Football Confederation announced on Sunday the official team of matchday one in the AFC Champions League Elite 2026-2027 league phase.

Al Ain’s Rami Rabia of Egypt and Hussein Rahimi of Morocco were selected after a 4-0 dismantling of Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr.

Rahimi scored twice, his brother Soufiane also found the net and Giacomakis added the fourth. Rabia anchored the back line as Al Nassr were kept out.

Al Hilal’s Ruben Neves was included too, the Portugal midfielder converting a penalty in a 2-1 win over Qatar’s Al Gharafa.

Among West Asia teams, Al Ain lead on three points after matchday one, ahead on goal difference of Esteghlal Tehran, Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, Saudi Arabia’s Al Qadsiah, Tajikistan’s Neftchi and the UAE’s Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.
