Palmer double and Joao Pedro goal seal historic 3-0 win for Chelsea in New Jersey
A night to forget for Paris Saint Germain ended with club president Nasser Al Khelaifi visibly furious as his side suffered 3 - 0 defeat to Chelsea in the 2025 FIFA Club World cup final held on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey.
Chelsea overwhelmed PSG from the start with Cole Palmer scoring twice in the 22 and 30 minutes before Joao Pedro added 3rd in the 42 minute.
The French champions, tipped as favourites before kick off, had no response to the Blues intensity.
In the dying seconds of the 1st half, TV cameras zoomed in on Nasser Al Khelaifi seated in the VIP section. The PSG president was seen visibly angry exhaling sharply in frustration as his team trailed 3 - 0 before the break.
Despite better structure after halftime, PSG couldn’t mount comeback. Chelsea maintained control and held on to claim the 1st Club World cup title under the new 32 team format.
The defeat dashed PSG’s hopes of historic 5 trophy season. The French side'd already won 3 domestic titles and the Champions league in 2024 /25 but the Club World cup proved step too far.
