Saudi Pro League (SPL) club Al-Nassr are preparing an official offer for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, according to the Telegraph.
The Villains recently rejected a club-record £57 million bid from West Ham United for the Colombian.
The SPL club wants to bolster their attack and believes a significant offer north of £80 million will tempt Villa into selling.
Despite filling all their foreign player slots, Al-Nassr could replace an under-21 player with Duran.
However, Villa manager Unai Emery is adamant he doesn’t want to lose Duran, who recently signed a new long-term contract.
Emery has praised Duran’s talent but does not want to play him alongside Ollie Watkins for tactical reasons.
Duran has been performing admirably for Villa and is desperate for a consistent starting slot, even if he has to leave the Premier League.
Chelsea tried to snap up the Villa man over the summer but could not meet Villa’s demands. He would have been perfect competition for Nicolas Jackson.
He has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this month. PSG lost Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus on loan, leaving Goncalo Ramos as the only centre-forward in the squad.
It remains unclear whether Duran will be open to leaving one of the top five European leagues for the Middle East at this stage of his career.
If a big Saudi bid is accepted, some European clubs may decide to re-enter the race.
