Burnley have sold Jaidon Anthony to Brentford for a possible £20m, but may already have a ready-made replacement in Jaydon Banel
Burnley's third relegation in five years means the Clarets will be playing Championship football once again next season, as the summer transfer window appears to be just getting started at Turf Moor.
Indeed, following the confirmation of Burnley's relegation, Scott Parker left his position at the helm in Lancashire, and three months on, the Clarets are still yet to appoint a replacement.
Wales men's national team head coach Craig Bellamy emerged as their number one target, having agreed to bring their former assistant boss back to the club after a £700k compensation fee was reportedly agreed.
However, that deal would fall through, sending Burnley back to square one. Now, Belgian boss Nicky Hayen, who is the current head coach of Genk, has since become the frontrunner for the vacancy, as Clarets fans eagerly await an appointment before summer business can properly begin.
Martin Dubravka has left the club on a free transfer to join Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Quilindschy Hartman joined Espanyol on a season-long loan deal to begin business in Lancashire.
Though undoubtedly the biggest deal so far has been the sale of Jaidon Anthony for a potential £20 million to Brentford, who will be a huge miss for the Clarets, though they may already have a ready-made replacement at the club that can help to fill the void.

Anthony, 26, came through the ranks at Bournemouth, and would go on to score 12 and assist ten in 92 games for the Cherries, before heading out on loan spells with Leeds United and then Burnley, the latter of whom he would initially join in the summer of 2024.
Following Burnley's promotion in 2025, his move to Turf Moor became permanent for around £8 million, and in 37 Premier League games for the Clarets, he scored eight and assisted four, finishing as the club's top goal contributor, one ahead of Zian Flemming.
This has led Brentford to part ways with a potential £20 million to bring him to West London, in what will be a huge miss for the Clarets, but who have made a solid profit on the winger in the span of 12 months.
With Anthony gone, Burnley may be in the market for a replacement, though they may well have their Anthony successor already at the club in the form of Dutch winger Jaydon Banel.
Banel, 21, came through the ranks at Ajax, featuring heavily for the Amsterdam outfit's youth sides before making the move to Lancashire in the winter of 2025 for a reported €1 million (£850k), where he has since struggled to feature in the first team.
The Dutchman has made just five first-team appearances for Burnley, scoring once, and would join Derby County on loan in January 2026, scoring three in 14 Championship games for the Rams, as Banel sprang into life in the latter stages of the season.
Upon his return to Turf Moor this summer, Burnley’s director of football development, Paul Jenkins, has backed the 21-year-old to have an impact on the Clarets squad next season, telling the Keeping The Faith documentary on X: "Jaydon is definitely part of our plans for next season, without a doubt.
"He’s had a really good experience at Derby, getting game time, minutes and the icing on the cake was that he scored three goals. Two of which were really fantastic individual goals, so he’s come back in great shape.
"He’s grown as a person, he’s a young man and he’s really focused on returning for pre-season."
Capable of playing anywhere across the front line, but best off the left where he can cut in on his preferred right foot, Banel has the potential to take the Championship by storm next season, with Anthony's departure paving the way for him to stamp his authority on England's second tier.
Burnley could delve into the market for a replacement, but they would be remiss at not allowing Banel to prove his worth in the first team.
The Clarets also possess the likes of Loum Tchaouna, Marcus Edwards, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Luca Koleosho, and Oluwaseun Adewumi in their ranks, all capable of playing off the left to varying degrees of success.
However, off the back of a promising loan spell with Derby, it ought to be Banel's time to shine, with Anthony's departure potentially being a blessing in disguise for Burnley.

With Burnley making a healthy profit on Anthony after just 12 months, Burnley owner Alan Pace will be more than happy with the business the Clarets have conducted.
Banel is ready to immediately step in and fill the void left by the Brentford-bound winger, though whether he is capable of hitting the heights of his predecessor remains to be seen.
Should the Dutchman explode into life at Turf Moor next season, Burnley's business will look even better than it does now, as Pace waits in anticipation for Banel's fate.
