Liverpool are expecting to finalise the transfer of Alexander Isak from Newcastle in the next 10 days or so.
The two sides tangle in a Premier League clash on Monday night amid no shortage of bad blood but that match right now feels like a sideshow.

The Isak saga has dragged on for several weeks now - with Newcastle left fuming by Liverpool’s £110m approach for their star striker and his refusal to play thus far this season.

For their part Liverpool are remaining patient and are intent on adding ONLY Isak rather than chasing another striking target.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admitted on Friday that the Isak situation is now drawing to a close.
With the Sweden international sticking to his guns - and of course refusing to sign a new contract at St. James’ Park - it would appear he is there for the taking.
Newcastle’s demands must be satisfied and the Geordies must also sign a replacement or two. But the signs are currently positive for Liverpool following Howe’s admission.
"It looks like it is coming to an end, or it will come to an end pretty quickly,” the Newcastle manager told the press on Friday.
It comes after TEAMtalk journalist Dean Jones wrote a story claiming that a second Liverpool offer was coming. The Reds have so far declined to follow up their initial proposal but time is now running out.
And instead of letting things fester further, the Reds’ sporting director Richard Hughes is now on the verge of launching a new offer.

“Reports of a £150m price tag have circulated, but the Reds have valued Isak lower that,” the report reads.
“Sources close to the situation suggest a more realistic figure would be in the bracket of £120m-£130m.
“Newcastle are beginning to expect another approach in the next week and accept that if Liverpool are serious, they will soon test the waters again ahead of the deadline.”
It is unlikely that anything will transpire before Newcastle host Liverpool on Monday night but expect a resolution before September 1 when the window closes.
