Sevilla are assessing the futures of Alexis and Azpilicueta while Neal Maupay’s early influence reshapes the attack.

According to El Desmarque, Alexis is out of contract in June and could return to South America, with Inter de Porto Alegre a possible destination. The same outlet adds that César Azpilicueta’s automatic renewal depends on an appearance threshold.

Maupay scored on debut against Mallorca, though it did not bring points. He has been involved in two of Sevilla’s last three goals and still needs a stronger presence in the box. Coach Almeyda has praised his speed of thought, technique and link play with Akor Adams.

He has helped sustain a two-striker system and added movement, showing tidy touches against Girona. At Alavés he was central to Sow’s goal despite failing to register a shot on target. The challenge now is to turn that industry into goals that secure results.

Injuries checked Alexis’s bright start of two goals and one assist in his first five outings, and Maupay’s arrival has pushed him into a reduced role. If he departs in summer, Sevilla would need to seek a different attacking profile.

It is not at all clear that the clause will be activated for Azpilicueta. He must reach 25 appearances to trigger an automatic extension, he is on 11 with 14 matches remaining, and sits on four bookings. Injuries have curtailed his rhythm, his leadership is valued, and both parties are likely to sit down after the season to decide.
