Boca Juniors have made a formal offer for 60% of Alexis Cuello’s rights, but the San Lorenzo forward’s latest red card has revived doubts around the move.

According to Sitiboca.com.ar, Cuello was sent off after five minutes of a friendly against Cerro Porteño in Uruguay, part of the Serie Río de la Plata. He and defender Matías Pérez clashed, sparking a scuffle with attempts at aggression, a ball thrown and shoves. Referee Javier Feres dismissed both players.

The early dismissal shaped the contest and again spotlighted the striker’s reactions on the pitch. It is not the first time Cuello has been caught in such situations.

Cuello has three red cards for San Lorenzo. The first came on the second of August 2025 in the Copa Argentina against Tigre, in first-half stoppage time. Weeks later, in the defeat at Platense in Vicente López, he was sent off in the 31st minute for an action deemed a blow with the arm, in a game marked by refereeing controversy.

Since debuting for San Lorenzo on 27 January 2024, Cuello has played 62 official matches and scored 11 goals. His continuity has also been interrupted by disciplinary sanctions at key moments.

Boca continue to monitor the situation and await San Lorenzo’s response to their proposal. The player’s on-field conduct is being weighed alongside football and financial factors as talks remain open, with the latest red card adding another element to the analysis.
