Algeria squad includes Mahrez, Aouchiche and Ghedjemis but omits Abdelli, Kebbal and Bounedjah | OneFootball

Vladimir Petkovic has named Algeria’s final pre-World Cup squad, with Himad Abdelli, Ilan Kebbal and Baghdad Bounedjah omitted.

According to L'Équipe, Algeria will face Guatemala on 27 March and Uruguay on 31 March, and the head coach has called a 25-player group featuring six newcomers.

Debutants include goalkeepers Melvin Mastil, Stade nyonnais, SUI, and Kilian Belazzoug, Rennes, plus Achref Abada, USM Alger, Adil Aouchiche, Schalke 04, Farès Ghedjemis, Frosinone, Serie B, and Nadhir Benbouali, Gyor, HON.

Captain Riyad Mahrez and Aïssa Mandi are included, along with Ramy Bensebaïni, Mohamed Amoura and Houssem Aouar. Amine Gouiri, OM, Yacine Titraoui, Chareroi, and Amine Chiakha also return after missing the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ilan Kebbal is injured, while Adem Zorgane and Nabil Bentaleb are also left out. Petkovic said this camp is about giving others the chance to show their qualities.

Algeria are in Group J with Argentina, Austria and Jordan. The tournament runs from 11 June to 19 July in the United States, Mexico and Canada, and the team will base themselves in Kansas.
