Cissé led Senegal from 2015 to 2024, winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, before taking charge of Libya in March 2025.

His Libya tenure covered 10 matches, producing three wins, five draws and two defeats, with the team ranked 112th in the FIFA rankings.

Initially contracted until 2027 after succeeding Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle, he did not take Libya to the 2026 World Cup, finishing third in Group D in Africa, ahead of Angola. Now leading the Black Antelopes, he will need to lay the groundwork from the June international window, with 2027 AFCON qualification in focus.
