Aliou Dieng has landed in Manises to complete his move to Valencia. According to Superdeporte, the 28-year-old Mali midfielder will be confirmed in the coming hours, then join Carlos Corberán’s pre-season.

He previously underwent an initial medical with the club and arrives on a free after his Al Ahly contract ended on 30 June.

Valencia will sign him for two seasons with an additional year optional, having reached agreement in late March while he was on international duty.

Dieng arrived with ambition, describing Valencia as a great club and saying they must restore Champions League nights. He said the team will fight to return to Europe this year and that expectations are high, adding he aims to give his best. He also said he has spoken with Corberán.

The club initially shelved the move despite that medical, then revived talks in late March to address midfield needs after the Baptiste Santamaría setback, with the Frenchman now available for exit. Dieng, without experience in major leagues but an international, is a physically strong profile approved by Corberán.

He is one of four signings for 26/27 alongside Guido Rodríguez, Justin de Haas and Ryunosuke Sato, with Stole Dimitrievski also staying after his option was exercised.

On 11 June he bid farewell on social media to Al Ahly and their fans after seven years, reflecting on growing from prospect to captain and on the honours they achieved together.
