Alisson ruled out of Galatasaray clash as Liverpool suffer injury blow; Mamardashvili to start in Champions League tie | OneFootball

Liverpool have been dealt a blow after Alisson Becker was ruled out of Tuesday's Champions League clash at Galatasaray through injury.

Alisson has not travelled with the Reds to Istanbul, ahead of the first leg of their last-16 tie against the Turkish Süper Lig champions.

The Brazilian's injury has not been specified, though he is unable to feature tomorrow after suffering 'discomfort' in Monday's training session. Giorgi Mamardashvili will deputise in goal against Galatasaray.

The Georgian goalkeeper has made just 10 starts across all competitions this season, having arrived from Valencia last summer. Mamardashvili did deputise during Alisson's seven-week absence with a hamstring issue, making threeChampions League appearances. In other team news, Federico Chiesa is also missing from the squad.

Liverpool face Galatasaray for the second time in Europe this season, following a 1-0 defeat at RAMS Park in the league phase in October.
