It does look like it is only a matter of time before Manchester City signs Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. The Ghana international is eager for his move to City to be completed as soon as possible. Sami Mokbel reported for the BBC that Semenyo is eager to join City as quickly as possible. Now Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation surrounding Antoine Semenyo. Romano reports that despite Liverpool’s attempts to convince Semenyo to move to Anfield, Semenyo prefers a move to Manchester City. At this stage, it seems that all roads lead to the Etihad for the Bournemouth winger.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Antoine Semenyo’s future. Romano reports that despite Liverpool being in constant contact with Semenyo since November, the Ghana international prefers a move to Manchester City. Speaking on Antoine Semenyo, and Liverpool’s attempts to woo him, Romano said: “Liverpool have always been calling for Semenyo; they started in November, continued before Christmas, kept calling in recent days to understand the situation. But I can guarantee to you as of tonight – I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow because my job isn’t to predict the future – Liverpool have never approached Bournemouth to start a conversation or tell them, ‘We’re going to pay the release clause’.”

“This didn’t happen because as of today, the player’s preference – expressed before Christmas Eve – is to go to Man City. Man City remain convinced Antoine Semenyo wants to join them, Man City remain relaxed about the situation, and Man City will be in contact with Bournemouth – I told [already] you – before the start of January to try seal the deal as soon as possible.”

Barring a late twist it is expected that Semenyo will sign for City.

Fabrizio Romano’s latest update provides a clear outlook on Antoine Semenyo’s intentions. Despite Liverpool’s best efforts the Bournemouth powerhouse has his heart set on a move to Manchester City. City is his preferred destination and that doesn’t look like changing in the coming days. Of course anything can happen in the world of football transfers, but it would now be a major surprise if City didn’t swiftly complete their move for Antoine Semenyo.

Fabrizio Romano has also added that City and Bournemouth will resume talks imminently over a deal that will see Semenyo join Pep Guardiola’s squad. Those negotiations aren’t expected to be an issue given the release clause in Anotine Semenyo’s contract.
