The Reds' previous title win came amid the COVID lockdown of 2020, which made Virgil van Dijk hoisting the trophy all the more special.

The Liverpool captain had been handed the trophy by a fellow title-winning great, former skipper and captain Alan Hansen, who was deeply unwell last year but looked the picture of health on a great day for all connected to the club.

To many Reds, these are the two best centre-halves in the club's history, and seeing them together was quite the sight.

Alisson was rested today, but more than played his part in the celebrations afterwards. Alongside Van Dijk and Salah, his arrival in 2018 can be pointed towards when this Liverpool era truly began.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure has cast somewhat of a cloud over the weeks following the winning of the league, but that was put aside today, with the right-back cheered by the fans and overcome by the emotion of it all.

Jürgen Klopp had called on the fans to show respect to Alexander-Arnold, and it showed that his voice still counts for a lot at Anfield. Today was fittingly the first game he has attended since his exit last summer.

However, it is now all about Arne Slot, who masterminded the title success in his very first season with little to no backing in the transfer market. He has already spoken of the challenges that await, but he made sure to enjoy his magnificent achievement today.

It's safe to say the party on the red side of Merseyside won't slow down for a few days at least.
