Allan on Vasco radar as Flamengo wages complicate possible move | OneFootball

Allan, the Flamengo midfielder, has emerged on Vasco’s radar as his camp explores a move for more game time. However, finances are a major obstacle.

According to Globo.com, the 28-year-old’s representatives recently contacted Vasco and coach Fernando Diniz to gauge interest. The link stems from their time together at Fluminense in 2019, when Diniz brought Allan into Brazilian professional football for the first time.

Seeking minutes, Allan has not featured under Filipe Luís and has not even been named in recent squads. Diniz, who likes the player, signalled positively.

Allan’s salary at Flamengo is beyond Vasco’s bracket for squad players, and Flamengo are not willing to cover wages in a loan. They also want a fee to release him, as in failed talks with São Paulo and Corinthians, which further reduces the chances of a reunion.

Although initially considered out of the plans, Flamengo still seek compensation because they do not want simply to part with him. With Saúl recovering from surgery on his left heel, Allan could be required as cover and has played once this year, against Fluminense. In discussions with São Paulo, Flamengo tried to involve Marcos Antônio as a potential replacement solution.

There are currently no negotiations, and the player has not been ruled out. Vasco do not intend to pay a fee and would only proceed if Flamengo agreed to split his wages, for which there is no indication at present.
