Malick Thiaw and Yunus Musah have been available on the transfer market throughout the window, but, despite the offers, they could both stay because Massimiliano Allegri has liked what he has seen from them in the pre-season.
According to Mediaset, Newcastle United have vigorously come forward for the defender in recent days. However, the offer would have to be very large, well over €30M, for the Rossoneri to contemplate his sale. On the other hand, they are offering richer personal terms. He’s making just €800k at the moment.
Allegri would be content to rely on both Thiaw and Musah. Director Igli Tare explicitly shopped the latter around earlier in the summer. He was very close to Napoli at some point, but the deal stalled at the 11th hour. The Partenopei would still be in the mix if the price were right.
However, the coach has appreciated the midfielder’s attitude in training and during the friendlies, Calciomercato informs. The Serie A side expects Nottingham Forest to lodge a proposal, but the contacts haven’t been too advanced for now.
The hierarchies in the back after the coaching change aren’t clear yet, so none of their four defenders has a reason to be unhappy yet. It probably won’t be the case in January without the cups, as somebody will end up not playing as much as he hoped. The fact that the most interesting replacements would be very expensive favors his permanence. The USMNT representative is redundant after all their midfield additions, but they paid a decent buck to get him, so the offers to lure him away need to be substantial.
