West Ham have been linked with a move for Amario Cozier-Duberry

West Ham are aiming for promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt next season.

The Hammers back in the Championship after a 14-year stint in the top flight, and Nuno Espírito Santo has been tasked with bringing them straight back up.

The London outfit finished 18th in the table in the previous campaign, two points adrift of safety, but will likely be one of the promotion favourites in 2026/27.

West Ham have yet to make any signings so far in the summer transfer window, but the club still have six weeks remaining to conclude any deals.

Mateus Fernandes has already been sold for £85 million to Tottenham Hotspur, and further exits could yet follow.

The Championship side have until 1 September to conclude their transfer business before the market shuts.

It has been reported by The Athletic that Brighton have turned down an offer worth £5 million for Amario Cozier-Duberry.

The winger has been linked with a move to West Ham earlier this summer following an impressive stint on loan with Bolton Wanderers.

The 21-year-old contributed nine goals and 13 assists to help the Whites gain promotion through the play-offs.

But his future with the Seagulls is currently up in the air, with the Premier League side seeking a contract extension for the forward.

Talks are underway between Brighton and Cozier-Duberry on a new deal, but no agreement has yet been reached.

Clubs such as Paris FC, Augsburg and Rangers have all also been credited with an interest in the player.

Brighton knocked back a bid from the Belgian giants worth a total of £5 million, indicating West Ham will need to spend more than that to win the race for his signature.

Cozier-Duberry has yet to break into the Sussex outfit’s first team squad following his move from Arsenal in 2024.

He previously competed in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers, moving to Ewood Park on loan in 2024/25, where he made 22 league appearances and scored one goal.

It remains to be seen what kind of figure it will take to convince Brighton to cash in on the player, whose contract runs until June 2028.

West Ham will begin their league campaign on 16 August with a trip to face Burnley.

A £5 million deal was always unlikely to be enough for Brighton given the reputation they’ve earned for being tough to negotiate with.

The winger has a lot of potential, and is still only 21, while also having two more years on his contract, so it could take an eight-figure sum to conclude a deal.

While Jarrod Bowen is set to stay with the Hammers, having someone like Cozier-Duberry as a backup could be a smart piece of business for the club going into the Championship, provided the cost of a deal doesn’t rise too significantly.
