Despite the ticking clock, there have been no signings. André Jardine has left the institution and Jonathan dos Santos has announced his retirement.

Any 'reinforcements' so far are returning loanees, namely Franco Rossano, Miguel Ramírez, Emilio Lara and Esteban Lozano.

Rossano and Lara look the likeliest to remain, though the current coaching staff will make the final call.

The team are due back in Mexico City on Monday 22 June, after which Almada is expected to decide who stays and who does not.

Vinícius Lima and Rodrigo Dourado are seen as likely to be the first departures, as neither was taken to Spain for pre-season, and more exits are expected.

Once that is resolved, attention will turn to signings, the positions required and how many arrivals there could be.

There are negotiations for Luis Chávez, a priority for the coaching staff as they need someone to cover the gap left by Jonathan dos Santos.

Patience will be needed while both incomings and outgoings are clarified before the tournament begins.
