América to start Apertura 2026 without full squad as World Cup players return late | OneFootball

According to Americayya.net, Club América are five days from their Apertura 2026 opener at Querétaro’s Estadio Corregidora and will not have a full squad. Several World Cup returnees only reported back today.

Las Águilas have completed pre-season, beating Trival Valderas and Jaiba Brava. They lost their final friendly to LA Galaxy.

The club enter the new campaign without signings. The board have been pursuing four reinforcements, but none has been officially confirmed.

Brian Rodríguez, Sebastián Cáceres and Israel Reyes reported to Coapa today to start catching up. Alejandro Zendejas has yet to return, and is expected to rejoin between tomorrow and Wednesday.

If all goes well, all players will be available for the Estadio Azteca meeting with Atlante on matchday two. It is expected that at least one new signing will also be in place by then.
