El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that CD Castellón have signed goalkeeper Amir Saipi from FC Lugano on a four-year contract until June 2030.

Born in Schaffhausen on 8 July 2000, Saipi stands 1.94 metres and has extensive top-flight experience in Switzerland. He has spent the past five seasons with Lugano, also featuring in European competition.

He has played 14 Conference League matches, six in 2023/24 and eight in 2024/25. He also featured in Europa League qualifying in each of the last three seasons. Last term he started until early March, then lost his place and returned for only two further games.

A product of FC Schaffhausen’s academy, Saipi later moved to Grasshopper Club Zürich before stepping up to Lugano’s first team in 2021. He has made 180 appearances for the club.

His highlights point to sharp reflexes, authority in the air and strong coverage of his goal. He is agile at close range and assured when coming off his line, qualities he will use to compete for a starting berth.

After representing Switzerland at youth level, he chose Kosovo and made his senior debut in October 2024 in the Nations League against Lithuania. He will challenge Romain Matthys, who holds the shirt after last season’s form. Castellón require their goalkeeper to be comfortable with the ball and to sweep high, often outside the box.
