Amorim's United among the Premier League's top attacking sides

Manchester United have been on a slow improvement this season and while consistency remains a problem the attacking numbers show the Red Devils are among the best in the league.
Ruben Amorim's side won 4-1 against an admittedly poor Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night with Bruno Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo, and Mason Mount on the scoresheet.
In total, United have scored 26 goals in their 15 Premier League games – a number topped only by the top two of Arsenal (28) and Manchester City (35).
However, according to the expected goals stats, United should have even more. United's xG of an even 30 is the second best in the league only narrow behind City's 30.57xG.
Perhaps what is most surprising about how high United's numbers are is that it does not yet feel like their new front three are at their clinical best.
While Bryan Mbeumo has scored seven times since his arrival from Brentford his other two big name arrivals haven't hit similar numbers.
Benjamin Šeško is currently injured, having not featured now for a month but while he has proven to work well as a central figure in attack with his physicality, he has netted just twice in 12 games.
Still, it's early days for the Slovenian who is still adapting to life in the Premier League which perhaps makes Matheus Cunha's low goal output more surprising.
Cunha looked desperate to score against his former club on Monday night but was unable to find the net in eight of his shots of which two were on target. The Brazilian did somehow get his first assist as a United player though with a poor pass to Fernandes who was somehow able to still finish after slipping in an attempt to retrieve the ball.
Speaking of Fernandes, the United captain has the same number of shots-per-game (2.8) in the Premier League as Cunha – a number that is only topped in the league by Manchester City's Erling Haaland (3.8 shots per game). With Mbeumo also averaging 2.5 shots per game that means that the top six players in the league for shots per game are all from United.
United then can look at their continued lack of clinical finishing as one reason why they're not closer to the top teams in a season in which a large number of clubs in the middle the table are jumping up and down several places as each matchweek goes by.
Perhaps Amorim will be relatively content with his attack thus far though in the hope that they will continue to adapt. A leaky defence that has only kept one clean sheet all season may be a bigger priority.
