Brighton are up next for Manchester City in the Premier League which looms as a crucial Premier League fixture for both teams. After their defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend Pep Guardiola’s side will be desperate to pick up three points on Saturday. But an in-form Brighton side are coming to the Etihad on Saturday. Looking at their recent performances and form they will be a tough opponent for Manchester City. There is little doubt about that when you look at Brighton’s recent performances and squad.
Under Fabian Hurzeler, Brighton has impressed once again this season. Their 7-nil defeat to Nottingham Forest at the beginning of February is an outlier. From that point on they have won six consecutive matches in all competitions. Four of those wins have been in the Premier League. The other two have come in the FA Cup. But their style of play has stood out and the Seagulls now find themselves in the race to secure Champions League football for next season. They will carry that strong form to the Etihad on Saturday, and when you look at their squad, you can see the problems that they could cause Manchester City on Saturday.
Brighton’s squad is packed with pace and technical quality. Wingers Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh have the pace and technical ability to pose a real threat to Manchester City’s defence. Up front Joao Pedro, Danny Welbeck and Georgino Rutter can be a handful on their day. Carlos Baleba could dictate the midfield battle with his pace, power and technical ability on Saturday. Especially when you consider the midfield frailties of Pep Guardiola’s side. All told, Fabian Hurzeler’s side looks to be built to get at Pep Guardiola’s side. Although they do have their frailties they are packed with weapons to get at Pep Guardiola’s side.
Brighton will head to the Etihad this weekend full of confidence and eager to pick up a massive three points on Saturday. Beating them will be no easy task for Pep Guardiola’s side. But you do feel that Manchester City simply have to if they want to secure Champions League football for next season. It’s that simple and Fabian Hurzeler’s side will be no pushover on Saturday.
