Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Getafe was another step forward in their La Liga campaign, as the team edged closer to FC Barcelona, reducing the gap to just one point.
With a postponed match against Valencia still in hand, Real Madrid are in a favourable position to build on their recent form. Reflecting positively on the performance, Carlo Ancelotti focused on the team’s overall control of the game and its deserved win.
“I saw the team doing well. They won with merit and they controlled the game well,” he began saying.
Kylian Mbappe was one of the standout performers of the match. The French forward displayed his usual flair and attacking intent, making himself a constant threat to Getafe’s defence.
His activity on the field exemplified what the team expected from him, as his contributions were crucial in securing the victory.
“He played very well. He was active, and dangerous, as always. It was a very active game and that is what we want from him,” said the manager.

The coach acknowledged the support Mbappe has received from fans, even after some underwhelming performances in previous matches.
The crowd’s understanding of the challenges faced by the players seems to have boosted the team’s morale, particularly Mbappe’s.
“I think the fans understand the current state of the team and the players better than anyone else. Mbappe could have done better against Liverpool and they have supported him as is fair.”
Despite facing several difficulties this season, Real Madrid have shown resilience and determination to stay competitive.
The coach emphasised the team’s spirit and gradual improvement, expressing optimism about solving their challenges as they continue to fight for success in La Liga.
“Despite the difficulties, which are many, we are there. We have regained a good attitude, we have spirit, and little by little we will resolve the problems we have while we are fighting.”

The focus also shifted to Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz, with the coach dismissing any notions of anxiety in their performances.
Rodrygo, who has recently found his form, played a solid 60 minutes and is expected to score soon. Brahim also remains part of the plans as the squad adapts to varying challenges.
“I don’t think they are anxious. In the end, we are all focused on what we have to do.
“Obviously, it is important for a striker to score goals and Rodrygo is back to a good level. He played for an hour but very well. He could score in the next game,” said the manager.

Youngster Endrick, another key talent, continues to work on his game. While Mbappe’s impactful performance made it difficult to rotate, Endrick is expected to play a significant role in upcoming matches as he gains experience and confidence.
“Endrick needs to work. Mbappe was very dangerous and I couldn’t take him off. He’ll be ready for the next game, for sure.”
Finally, Fran Garcia’s increased game time was highlighted. While he has shown promise in recent matches, the coach pointed out Ferland Mendy’s contributions to past Champions League triumphs, underlining the depth in the squad’s options at left-back.
“He has played more in recent games and has a lot of quality, but we have to bear in mind that with Ferland we have won two Champions Leagues and he is still a great full-back,” he said.
In summary, Real Madrid’s ability to manage its squad while maintaining form demonstrates a balanced approach as they aim to overtake Barcelona and continue their fight for domestic and European success.
