Ander Herrera has ended his spell at Boca after 18 months, confirming his exit with an emotional video message. The player said in a post that he and the club had chosen to carry on in a different way, now as a devoted supporter.

His arrival had been viewed as a significant lift in quality for the squad in Argentina. Both parties agreed to terminate his contract in what was framed as the best course for the institution.
