Anderlecht have announced that the highly talented Ecuadorian winger Nilson Angulo has signed a new contract at the club. Angulo, who has started the season in fantastic form, was linked with a move away this past summer but had stated he wanted to remain in Belgium. He has now shown this by signing a contract with Anderlecht that will run until 2029. For the Mauves, it secures Angulo for more years but also means they can get maximum value for the player should they decide to sell him.
With Angulo likely heading to the World Cup, barring any injury, with Ecuador next summer, that may come sooner rather than later. He has been exceptional this season, with two goals and three assists in 10 matches. That is already the same number of goals and assists that he managed in 39 games for Anderlecht last season. The 22-year-old has been with the club since joining from LDU de Quito back in 2022, spending the first few seasons mainly with the sides second team. Last season he made the step up and this year he has really pushed on. Angulo has been a regular for the Ecuadorian national team and will link up again with Union St Gilloise striker Kevin Rodriguez when the side travel to the 2026 World Cup next summer.
