Elliot Anderson says he’s really looking forward to working under new boss Enzo Maresca.

Anderson: City is the place I want to be!

Maresca joined City as manager earlier this summer with the Italian tactician boasting an impressive CV having led Leicester to the Sky Bet Championship title and Chelsea to both the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.

Anderson has followed Maresca through the Etihad entrance door after putting pen to paper on a five year deal today.

And he can’t wait to start this new chapter of his career alongside the classy and charismatic 46-year-old.

“I’m really looking forward to that,” he said of playing for Maresca.

“I’ve watched his teams over the past couple of years and spoke to a few of the lads from Chelsea and they all rate him very highly.

“So, I’m really looking forward to getting to work with him.”

Former Forest manager Ange Postecoglou believes Anderson and Maresca are a perfect match.

Postecoglou, who worked with Anderson during his spell at the City Ground, stressed during his time as a World Cup pundit in USA, Canada and Mexico that the England midfielder’s industry and intensity in the central ground make him a dream Maresca player.

Anderson is also of the opinion that his style will suit this new era for the Blues under the Italian.

“Yeah, 100%,” he said of a common ground between player and manager.

“I like to be intense when I play and use lots of energy around the pitch and get the fans going.

“So, I think that’ll be good.”

Anderson arrives at City following a stellar World Cup campaign with Thomas Tuchel’s England.

While there was disappointment at a late semi-final exit to Argentina, Anderson says he treasured the experience of playing on such a grand, global stage as he now gets set for a period of rest and relaxation before linking up with City ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

“It was disappointing,” the 23-year-old said of how it ended for the Three Lions.

“But I loved it personally. As a team I think we had the whole country behind us and we’ve done so well but just fell short.

“But from a personal point of view, I enjoyed it and I thought I’d done pretty well.

“I think I’ve got around three weeks off now, so I’ll go and relax, enjoy some sun somewhere and then get right to work here.”
