Liverpool have managed to get two big deals over the line so far this summer.
Jeremy Jacquet’s signature was put in place back in winter but the move which takes him from Rennes to Anfield for £60m has now been completed.
Richard Hughes struck an opportunistic deal for Victor Munoz - who arrives on a £34m deal from Osasuna. Another player - Ifeanyi Ndukwe - has also been registered with the centre-back moving from Austria Vienna.
But Andoni Iraola’s side remain short on players in key positions. Right-back is shaping up to be an issue once again.
Conor Bradley is not expected to be fit anytime soon following a leg injury suffered in January and last season midfielders were asked to fill in.
Ibrahima Konate meanwhile has been lost to Real Madrid on a free transfer - although Jacquet and eventually Giovanni Leoni are expected to scrap it out for a place alongside Virgil van Dijk in the team at centre-back.
In an ideal world the Merseysiders would have at least one more senior centre-back as well as the right-sided full-back they so desperately require.
And that was confirmed by Andoni Iraola in a recent press conference - spelling out the shortages in the Anfield side’s squad heading into the 2026/27 season.
"At the end, if you have a fully fit, healthy Conor Bradley, we are very happy, ready to go and we would not be asking ourselves these questions," the head coach said according to BBC Sport.
"I think it's a situation that is tricky, because we trust Conor in the long term, we know we want him to be our right-back but right now he is still, I would say, a little bit far from returning.
"So, with the centre-back, with the right-back situation, in terms of defensive depth, we are, I think, very thin right now so I think it's a solution that we are trying to find, yes."

Right-back links have included Lutsharel Geertruida of RB Leipzig and Daniel Banjaqui of Benfica but the Merseysiders are still no closer to announcing a new candidate.
Geertruida could also cover centre-back but ideally Iraola and sporting director Richard Hughes could find a senior specialist in the position.
