André Almeida is back where he started, with Valencia preparing to move him on again this summer. According to Superdeporte, the Portuguese midfielder has returned to the same starting point as last year’s window after a turbulent season.

An exit was a priority 12 months ago. He was left out of the Trofeu Taronja as a deal with Trabzonspor neared, but he rejected the move and no offer satisfied all parties, so he stayed, though he was not among Carlos Cobrerán’s first choices.

On one of the lowest deals in the squad, he renewed mid-season to improve his terms. Valencia dubbed him “El Mago” in the announcement, but beyond an eight-game run around the campaign’s midpoint his involvement stayed sporadic.

He started only two of the last 19 matches, underlining his reduced role. Valencia have now placed him on the market and want a quick resolution to back other options.

Attractive proposals have been scarce and the outlook does not appear to be shifting. His modest output at Mestalla has weakened his valuation, which could make a satisfactory bid difficult and may oblige Valencia to lower their asking price.
