The 35-year-old covered 270 kilometres across six stages in 51h41'16'', placing 675th overall.

The men's race was won by Egyptian Mohamed el-Morabity.

Schürrle retired in 2020 after a career that included winning the 2014 World Cup, when he set up the only goal as Germany beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time.

Since stepping away, he has taken on other endurance challenges, including climbing Mont Blanc in 2024 and running the Barcelona Marathon.
