Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup has begun an individual conditioning programme in Marbella as he gears up for the 2026 World Cup with Norway. He has opted to work rather than take complete rest.
According to VG, he is working alongside Antonio Nusa of Leipzig at the Marbella Football Center on a tailored schedule with an individual coach, recovery work and specific on-pitch sessions.
The location was chosen for weather comparable to that expected in the United States during the tournament. The federation wants players to adapt early to the likely heat and prepare for extreme conditions.
Schjelderup welcomed the chance to train there before the World Cup and to acclimatise to high temperatures. He felt Marbella offers a strong mix of facilities before competition begins.
Team-mate Antonio Nusa has praised his progress, pleased to see form return after some difficult moments. Schjelderup heads into the tournament amid perhaps the best spell of his career.
