Corinthians have until 12 June to pay US$ 7 million, around R$ 35.66 million, to Talleres for midfielder Rodrigo Garro, or the case will return to CAS.
"We are waiting for payment by 12 June. That is the deadline we will wait for. If they do not pay, Talleres will go to CAS to have the sanction enforced. They are convinced they will pay us before, and we will wait until that day," said club president Andrés Fassi, speaking to ESPN. He added there would be no further extension.
The dispute has dragged on for months. Corinthians were first due to pay by 1 May, then granted a one-week extension, but bureaucratic issues stalled the financial operation and the debt remained open.
The club sought a loan to resolve it and, late in May, cleared internal and legal compliance hurdles. The money was expected to be sent on 30 May, but no deposit was made.
The debt stems from a Fifa ruling in February 2025 that ordered Corinthians to pay US$ 3.6 million, about R$ 18.7 million at the time, rising above R$ 40 million with interest and charges. The club has appealed to CAS to avoid a new transfer ban.
Relations with former president Augusto Melo, who signed Garro in 2024, had deteriorated. The current leadership, led by Osmar Stabile, has shifted approach with meetings in Argentina that Fassi praised. In April, Stabile said the Cori approved a payment plan.
