Andrés Gómez earns Colombia call, ending Vasco’s eight-year World Cup wait | OneFootball

Vasco forward Andrés Gómez has been named in Colombia’s squad for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, the United States and Mexico, restoring the club’s presence at the tournament after eight years.

According to Globo.com, of Vasco’s four Colombians, Gómez is the only player selected, with Johan Rojas and Carlos Cuesta, both on the pre-list, missing out on Néstor Lorenzo’s final squad.

Vasco last had a World Cup player in 2018, when Martín Silva represented Uruguay in Russia.

Gómez joined Vasco at the start of the year and is under contract until January 2031.

Colombia complete their warm-ups on one and seven June against Costa Rica and Jordan. Lorenzo’s list also features Brazil-based Jorge Carrascal of Flamengo, Jhon Arias of Palmeiras and Juan Camilo Portilla of Athletico Paranaense.
