Andressa Alves criticises Porto Alegre pitch and hails Corinthians’ 2-0 win over Grêmio | OneFootball

On Friday, Corinthians beat Grêmio 2-0 at Estádio Francisco Novelletto, tightening their grip on the Brasileirão Feminino summit. After the match, Andressa Alves criticised the rain-affected pitch and stressed the importance of the win.

"As you said, it was very difficult to play today with the rain, but our team were very combative and, when the chances came, we scored. It was very important to win today and to keep going, game by game, improving. The victory was very important," she told SporTV.

The Corinthians number eight also praised head coach Emily Lima, who has seven wins since replacing Lucas Piccinato in late February, adding a third-place finish at the Teal Rising Cup to the current league lead.

"She is an excellent coach, she is hard on us so we play well and, when we cannot play so well because of the pitch, we keep winning," she said.

Corinthians now turn to the Paulistão Feminino, opening their state campaign against São Paulo on Thursday at 21:30 at the Fazendinha, aiming to carry their momentum into the regional competition.
