Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is being lined up to take over at MLS side Los Angeles FC, according to reports.

Postecoglou has been out of work since he was sacked by Tottenham days after winning the Europa League - the club's first trophy in 17 years.

BBC Sport report that the Australian could be set for a quick return to work, with his name in the running to replace current LAFC boss Steve Cherundolo, who is stepping down from the role in October to return to Germany, where he spent the majority of his playing career.

Postecoglou was relieved of his duties at Tottenham following a disastrous domestic campaign in which they lost 22 games and finished 17th. The 59-year-old had hoped to stay in his job after guiding Spurs to Europa League glory in Bilbao, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy decided to bring an end to Postecoglou's two-year stay in north London earlier this month.

Tottenham have since hired former Brentford head coach Thomas Frank.

LAFC have enjoyed consistent success under Cherundolo, winning a Supporters Shield and MLS Cup double in 2022, as well as the U.S. Open Cup title in 2024. Under his stewardship, they've also reached a further three cup finals across four years under the German’s stewardship.

Big-name former Premier League players Olivier Giroud and Hugo Lloris, who left midway through Postecoglou's first season in charge at Tottenham, are currently on the books at LAFC, who will expect to challenge for silverware next season.

There is no indication whether Postecoglu, who has managed in Europe for the last four years, would accept the job at LAFC, but with the current MLS season not ending until October, there is plenty of time to thrash out a deal.
