Ángel Di María claims Real Madrid youngster ‘has much more quality than me’ | OneFootball

Former Real Madrid star Ángel Di María has this weekend moved to make clear his appreciation for the talents of a current member of the attacking ranks in Spain’s capital.

The player in question? Franco Mastantuono.

Youngster Mastantuono of course sealed a move to Real Madrid earlier this summer.

After Los Blancos agreed to spend big to beat out the competition to his signature, the 18-year-old departed River Plate for the bright lights of the Santiago Bernabéu.

And to say that Mastantuono has since enjoyed a positive start to life in Spain would be putting it lightly.

The Argentine has quickly established himself as a leading member of Xabi Alonso’s attacking ranks, showcasing poise and quality befitting of a player much his senior.

And as alluded to above, one individual on whom the significance of as much has not been at all lost is Ángel Di María.

Speaking during an interview with DSports late this week, ex-Real Madrid standout Di María explained:

“Franco Mastantuono has much more quality than me (laughs)! Honestly, I’m thrilled to see him. The way he can immediately connect with his teammates, the skills he possesses, his courage to always challenge opponents and play without fear—it’s extraordinary.

“I’m sure many people will appreciate Mastantuono. For an 18-year-old kid who can play like that, I think he has a very strong personality and character. I’m really happy to have another Argentine player at Real Madrid who can represent us as well as he does.”
