Angel Gomes could depart this summer, with Rob Edwards acknowledging the loanee is keen to play at the highest level as a decision on his Wolves future approaches.
The midfielder joined on loan from Marseille in the winter window, and Wolves hold a £six million option to buy this summer. It has long been anticipated he would not remain in the Championship. Wolves finish the season against Burnley.
Edwards said: “Angel is someone who's really keen to play at the highest level, as high a level as possible, so we'll see what happens.” “There's obviously one more game to go, which he's in the mix for and then we'll see what happens after the last game.”
Gomes said: “I haven’t spoken to Marseille and everything that goes on behind the scenes has been left with my agent and the clubs really.” He told The Athletic.
“Only time will tell, but my advisors and my agents will look after me.” “Since leaving United all those years ago, I always had a love for English football.”
“But coming back to England has never been the be-all and end-all for me in my career or in my life. If there are opportunities to play for a team in England then it’s not something that I would turn down, but I’m open to playing anywhere.”
