Angers’ Sidiki Chérif rivals Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal in key metric | OneFootball

SCO Angers are being carried by their youth this season. When Esteban Lepaul left the club to join Stade Rennais in the summer, question marks were raised about who would replace him, especially when the LFP cancelled Rémy Labeau-Lascary’s loan switch.

It has been two academy products who have filled the void, Prosper Peter (18) and Sidiki Chérif (18).  Between them, they have scored two-thirds of Le Sco’s goals this season. 

Chérif has also scored in Angers’ last two games, including netting a late equaliser against AS Monaco. It isn’t just goals that Chérif is bringing, but dynamism and directness. The France youth international is a prolific dribbler, as the statistics show. 

Per 100 touches, Chérif makes, on average, 29.35 dribbles. For U19 players, that figure places him on the podium in Europe’s top five leagues, only just behind arguably the most prolific dribbler of them all, Lamine Yamal (35.11 dribbles per 100 touches). Both are a way off Koln’s Said El Mala, who makes an average of 45.59.
