Another departure at Real Madrid as first-team doctor resigns | OneFootball

Real Madrid are set to undergo a significant, almost radical, change this summer, as the Merengues seem intent to put their troubles of the last two seasons behind and embark on a new project, that would hopefully once again return them to winning ways.

This is apparent from the managerial change in the team, with Jose Mourinho now back to lead the club, following the departure of Alvaro Arbeloa. Meanwhile, the white club has also already made four new signings, Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Bernardo Silva, and completed one departure, Dani Ceballos.

Several more changes are set to take place in the team in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, some changes also seem to be afloat in the medical department, as SPORT cites ESPN to report that the Real Madrid first-team doctor Manuel Arroyo has presented his resignation to the club.

The doctor joined the Merengue club last year, after having spent most of his career at Granada FC. At his previous club, he had already worked with Felipe Segura, who was promoted as the head of Real Madrid’s medical services back in 2023, replacing Niko Mihic. However, the latter returned to the club last season, especially as the white team suffered from an injury crisis for almost the entire season.

Manuel Arroyo also saw himself involved in several high-profile incidents. The most prominent of these was the incorrect diagnosis of Kylian Mbappe’s knee problem, which put the Merengue side’s medical team in the center of the media spotlight.

For now, Real Madrid have not made any official statement on this matter, and the reasons for his resignation are also not revealed. But, if true, this would mean another significant change in the team’s medical department, an area that would need significant consideration following the injury problems faced by the Merengues in the last few years.
