Liverpool’s preparations for their Premier League trip to Crystal Palace have been shaped by contrasting fortunes in attack. The spotlight has fallen on Alexander Isak, who continues to sharpen his edge following his record £125 million move from Newcastle.
Sky Sports confirmed the Swedish striker is “still building up his fitness” but emphasised he was “obviously out there training at the moment.” His return is timely, with Hugo Ekitike ruled out through suspension after a second yellow card in the Carabao Cup for removing his shirt in celebration.

The French forward later took to Instagram to apologise, with Arne Slot expected to issue further internal punishment. Despite his five goals and one assist in just eight appearances, his absence forces Liverpool into reshaping the attack once again. Federico Chiesa could share the burden, but Isak’s progress will be closely monitored.
While senior stars dominate the headlines, eagle-eyed fans noticed a new name in training. Journalist Lewis Bower spotted 18-year-old winger Kieran Morrison, replying on X: “Kieran Morrison in first-team training ahead of Crystal Palace tomorrow. Briefly pictured.”
Morrison has been quietly developing in the academy ranks, already attracting attention from Wolves, Burnley and clubs in Germany. Yet he chose to stay at Liverpool, with a new contract expected to follow. He has previously featured on the bench in the League Cup, and with Ekitike suspended ahead of the gaame, Morrison remains involved with the senior group.
Operating primarily from the right flank, Morrison has impressed under Rob Page at youth level. His inclusion in first-team training underlines the growing regard in which he is held inside the club. With Liverpool navigating suspensions and fitness issues, the teenager’s presence adds depth and intrigue.
Crystal Palace, unbeaten in their last 17 Premier League matches, will pose a stern challenge for Arne Slot’s side. But the sight of Isak edging closer to full sharpness, coupled with Morrison’s emergence, offers a glimpse of both the present and future for Liverpool.
