Manchester City will enter Sunday’s Manchester derby with several players unavailable due to injury. As per a report from Ross Jackson for Manchester Evening News, Rayan Cherki and Mateo Kovacic will miss the match against Manchester United. Josko Gvardiol is also in doubt for the match. Savinho and Phil Foden could return for Sunday’s derby as per Jackson’s report. There is no update on Marcus Bettinelli’s status in Jackson’s report. Now Omar Marmoush will join Rayan Cherki and Mateo Kovacic on the sidelines for Sunday’s match at the Etihad Stadium. The knee injury sustained by Marmoush on international duty will keep him out of Sunday’s derby.

Manchester City will be without Omar Marmoush for the derby.

In a statement released on mancity.com, Manchester City have confirmed that Omar Marmoush will miss Sunday’s clash with Manchester United. Furthermore, it is reported that Marmoush is scheduled to return to Manchester for further scans and assessment on the injury he sustained on international duty. Marmoush suffered a knee injury during the opening stages of Egypt’s nil-all draw with Burkina Faso yesterday. He was injured in the fourth minute of the match and substituted after 9 minutes, after a lengthy spell of treatment on the pitch.

It now remains to be seen just how long Omar Marmoush will be out of action for.

It is a blow for Manchester City to lose Omar Marmoush for Sunday’s derby against Manchester United. The Egyptian international could have played a pivotal role for his team. But he isn’t available due to the knee injury he sustained against Burkina Faso. All that remains is confirmation of how long Marmoush will be sidelined for.

Manchester City will hope that Omar Marmoush isn’t set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines. He is an essential player for Pep Guardiola’s side. Outside of Erling Haaland, the Egyptian international is arguably City’s biggest goal threat. Pep Guardiola is due to face the media tomorrow ahead of Sunday’s game, so perhaps an update on Marmoush’s injury status could come tomorrow.
