Although everyone was optimistic about the deal since his arrival this summer from English giants Liverpool, it appears the Englishman is facing many difficulties adapting to Spanish coach Xabi Alonso's team.
The Spanish capital was supposed to be a new chapter for the English defender, but the transition has been anything but smooth. Sources close to the club reveal that Trent Alexander-Arnold is finding it difficult to settle, both on and off the pitch.
His signature playing style seems at odds with the meticulous tactical system manager Xabi Alonso is building, leaving him struggling to secure a firm foothold in the starting lineup. To make matters worse, a persistent spell of injuries has continually disrupted his rhythm, casting a shadow over his ability to fully integrate into the squad.
This setback comes at a particularly inopportune time for Real Madrid, as they now face a crisis in the right-back position. The experienced Dani Carvajal, a stalwart at 33, has been diagnosed with a serious knee injury that is expected to keep him out of action for up to three months.
The veteran's absence is a significant blow, especially after his crucial contribution in the recent El Clásico, where he entered the fray in the 72nd minute and played a key role in helping his team stubbornly defend their narrow lead until the final whistle.
