The forward Ansu Fati is one of the FC Barcelona players who is currently playing away from the club, on loan with the Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. After some difficult years trying to find form, the Spaniard is looking to have finally found a side suitable for him.

The La Masia graduate has still not been able to get back to the level that made him such an amazing talent when he broke out with the Barcelona first team. However, his relationship with the Principality Club seems to be good.

As Mundo Deportivo has noted, this is clear from a recent statement from the player’s father, Bori Fati, who, talking to Winwin, confirmed that his son is happy at Monaco and he wants him to continue there:

“We still don’t know what will happen with his future, because he has a contract until 2028, that’s certain. We don’t know, but we want him to stay at Monaco because he is happy there.”

Bori Fati also underlined that Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has not yet been in contact regarding the player’s future:

“It depends on Flick, but they haven’t spoken yet.”

Monaco are satisfied with Ansu Fati’s performances and are open to keeping him beyond the current loan, although any permanent move would depend on financial conditions.

The club holds an option to buy the forward for around €11 million, a figure considered affordable, but his salary remains the main obstacle. Monaco would require significant wage adjustments for any deal to be feasible within their structure.

Before the loan, Ansu Fati extended his contract with Barcelona until 2028, with part of his salary deferred. Barcelona have also been covering a significant portion of his wages during this season, easing the financial burden on the French side. However, a permanent transfer would involve major negotiations to align his salary with Ligue 1 standards.

There is also an additional layer in the agreement, as Barcelona retain a buy back clause set at just over €25 million, leaving the door open for a potential return if his form continues to improve.

For now, all parties remain aligned on his development, but his long-term future will depend on sporting decisions at Barcelona, financial feasibility at Monaco, and the final evaluation from Hansi Flick.
