Following the end of the 2025-26 season, FC Barcelona moved quickly in the transfer market, as they signed one of the most exciting players in the Premier League last season, the winger Anthony Gordon. The Catalans still have several more signings planned for this summer.
Meanwhile, they are also working on some sales, and want to complete some of these before the end of this financial year on 30th June. This is particularly the case with the forward Ansu Fati, who spent the last season on loan with AS Monaco, and recovered his form to some extent. The Ligue 1 side is now looking to exercise the €11 million purchase clause on the player.
In fact, this operation is quite near to its completion, and Mundo Deportivo claims that an official agreement would be reached next week, when a meeting between Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and the principality club is scheduled. The report also informs that all the disagreements between the involved sides, barring a few minor contractual differences, have already been resolved.
The main terms of the contract have already been set, and the forward would get a four-year contract, which could be extended to five years, with no release clause, as there are no release clauses in Ligue 1. The Blaugrana side would keep a €29 million buy-back clause on him, while there is also the possibility of them getting a percentage of a future sale of the player.
For now, the delay is mainly because of Jorge Mendes, who is busy finalizing the moves of his two other clients, Jose Mourinho and Bernardo Silva, to Real Madrid. But from the looks of it, this Ansu Fati operation is also nearing its conclusion, and hopefully would be completed in time for Barcelona to record its income in their statements for the current financial year.
