Anthony Taylor will referee West Ham vs Leeds United on Sunday, the Premier League confirmed as final-day appointments were published. The match carries major jeopardy for the hosts.

Leeds round off an excellent season back in the top flight. Daniel Farke’s side have been safe for almost two weeks and are unbeaten in eight after last weekend’s 1-0 home win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

West Ham arrive in troubling form, losing three straight. They sit 18th, two points behind Tottenham Hotspur with a far inferior goal difference, and need a near-miracle to leapfrog their London rivals.

Taylor has overseen 30 Premier League matches this season, averaging 20.33 fouls and 3.97 yellow cards per game. Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn will be his assistants, Steve Martin is fourth official and John Brooks is on VAR. He has handled high-profile fixtures including the Manchester derby and Chelsea vs Arsenal, plus ties in the Champions League and Europa League.

He has taken charge of three Leeds games, the FA Cup win over Derby County, September’s 3-1 success at Wolves and December’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool.

In that Liverpool thriller, he awarded Leeds a pivotal penalty on review after initially signalling a corner, with Ibrahima Konate judged to have caught Willy Gnonto at 2-0. Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted, Anton Stach soon levelled, Dominik Szoboszlai put Liverpool back in front and Ao Tanaka equalised in added time.

West Ham must beat Leeds to have any chance of survival, while Tottenham need to lose at Everton for the Hammers to stay up.
